Phil Allen is a classically trained pianist who has led his own band in London for more than 25 years, working with the late Joe Loss - one of Britain’s most renowned bandleaders. As a soloist, his musical tastes are wide and he especially enjoys playing the music of George Gershwin, Cole Porter, and other composers of the “great American songbook”.

Christmas and Birthday Balls for Her Majesty the Queen and for Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother at Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle.

 

Ambassadorial and State Receptions, including the private party given for Her Majesty the Queen and the Royal Family by President George Bush on the occasion of his State Visit to the UK.

 

Phil has played for parties at Althorp, Woburn Abbey, Hatfield House, Winfield House, Claridges, The Savoy, The Ritz, The Berkeley, The Dorchester, as well as Film Premières, country house parties and countless weddings, birthdays and company celebrations.

 

Phil also performs with the virtuoso violinist Steve Bentley-Klein, formerly of the BBC Concert Orchestra, playing the kind of light classical and popular music that creates the perfect atmosphere for receptions, or during dinner, and will augment to a piano trio or quartet as required.

In 2004 Phil was privileged to play Cole Porter’s piano at the Waldorf Astoria in New York – the piano on which Porter wrote some of his most famous songs.
